Questions We Hear a Lot About Gazebos

Permit requirements vary by city, county, and HOA, so it's worth checking with your local building department before you commit. Factors like footprint size, whether the structure is anchored to a permanent foundation, and your property's zoning can all affect what's required. Most hardtop gazebos fall into a category that may require a simple permit, and having that conversation early saves time down the road.

Aluminum frames are rust-resistant, low-maintenance, and hold up well in wet or humid climates without needing seasonal treatment. Wood frames bring a warmer, more traditional aesthetic and are a natural fit if you're working with an existing wood deck or garden design. Your choice often comes down to how much upkeep you're comfortable with and the look you're going for.

Hardtop gazebos with galvanized steel roofing are designed to handle real weather conditions much better than soft-top alternatives — the steel sheds rain efficiently and resists wind better than fabric canopies. That said, no outdoor structure is designed for extreme weather events, and anchoring your gazebo properly to a stable surface makes a meaningful difference in how it performs long-term. Always follow the manufacturer's anchoring guidelines included with your unit.

About Our Gazebos

A gazebo is one of the most versatile investments you can make in your outdoor space. At its core, it defines a room outside — a sheltered area where you can gather, dine, relax, or simply enjoy your yard without being fully at the mercy of the elements. Unlike a basic umbrella or a pop-up canopy, a well-built gazebo is designed to stay in place season after season, offering real protection from rain and sun while adding a sense of structure and intention to your backyard, patio, or deck. When choosing a gazebo, think about frame material — aluminum tends to require less upkeep, while wood brings a natural warmth that blends easily with garden settings. Roof construction matters too: galvanized steel holds up against moisture and rust far better than fabric alternatives. Consider the footprint relative to how you plan to use the space, and whether features like curtains or netting matter for your climate and privacy needs. A gazebo worth owning is one that fits your life, not just your yard.
